Police Foil Alleged Plot to Murder Anambra Man, Confiscate His Property, Arrest Four Suspects

The Anambra State Police Command has foiled an alleged plot to murder a citizen and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, arresting four suspects in connection with the alleged conspiracy.

The suspects were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi following an intelligence-led operation by security operatives. Two firearms and live ammunition were also recovered during the operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrests followed strategic intelligence operations initiated under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.

According to Ikenga, the breakthrough came on the evening of August 12, 2026, when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, working with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, acted on credible intelligence and moved swiftly to disrupt the alleged criminal plot.

Ikenga said the suspects were identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects were allegedly linked to a plot to murder a citizen and subsequently take over his landed properties,” Ikenga said.

He added that the command was conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other persons who may have been involved and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each suspect.

“The suspects are currently in Police custody and will be made to face the full weight of the law upon conclusion of investigations,” Ikenga said.

The Police spokesman said the operation underscored the command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy aimed at detecting criminal threats early, disrupting planned attacks and preventing the loss of lives and property.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, according to Ikenga, commended the operatives and security personnel involved in the operation, stressing the importance of timely intelligence in preventing violent crimes.

The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible information that could help prevent criminal activities in their communities.
