Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Murder of Boyfriend, Recover Nearly ₦3 Million, Luxury Mercedes

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a woman, Lorretta Anoh, in connection with the alleged murder of her 36-year-old boyfriend, Chikoka Emeka Henry, at his residence in Osongama Estate, Uyo.

The arrest followed an intensive police investigation after the victim was reportedly found dead inside his apartment under suspicious circumstances.

According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that Anoh was the last person seen entering the deceased’s residence before his death.

Investigators said a search conducted after her arrest led to the recovery of ₦2,943,250 in cash, which police allege belonged to the deceased.

Police further claimed that the suspect admitted taking the money from the victim’s residence.

“The suspect was arrested following credible intelligence and ongoing investigation into the death of the victim,” a police source familiar with the case said.

Luxury Mercedes Allegedly Targeted

The investigation also uncovered what authorities described as an attempt to transfer ownership of the deceased’s Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC to the suspect.

According to the police, the luxury vehicle, bearing registration number EKY 694 GP, had already been removed from the victim’s residence before investigators traced it.

Detectives also disclosed that preliminary examination of the deceased’s body revealed a deep cut to the head, prompting homicide investigators to intensify forensic and criminal investigations.

Police Launch Full Homicide Investigation

Reacting to the development, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Amengheme Andrew, ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ikot Akpan Abia, for a comprehensive investigation.

The Commissioner assured residents that detectives would conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“No stone will be left unturned as investigators work to uncover the facts surrounding this tragic case,” the police said.

He also urged members of the public to remain security conscious and exercise caution in their personal relationships and associations.

Investigation Ongoing

Police emphasized that investigations are still in progress and that the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.

Under Nigerian law, every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for a swift, transparent investigation and justice for the deceased.
