Okeke Elected PCRC Zone 13 Chairman, Vows Inclusive Leadership, Stronger Police-Community Partnership

In a move expected to strengthen collaboration between the Police and the public, Mr. Onyebuchi Okeke has been elected Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone 13 Command Headquarters, covering Anambra and Enugu States.

Okeke emerged victorious during a keenly contested but peaceful election conducted on Wednesday in Ukpo, Anambra State, by the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan.

The election also produced Mr. Ken Iloanya as Deputy Chairman and Mr. Chukwuemeka Nweke (Mighty Mighty Nteje) as Vice Chairman I, alongside other members of the newly inaugurated 21-man executive committee.

Reacting to his election, Okeke described his victory as “a mandate for every member of the committee, not a personal triumph,” stressing that the success of the PCRC would depend on unity and collective effort.

“This is a victory for all of us. Although I have been elected chairman, the responsibility belongs to everyone, and our goals can only be achieved through teamwork,” Okeke said.

The new chairman reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing security across the zone through stronger community engagement.

He also pledged an inclusive administration that would ensure members from both Anambra and Enugu States actively participate in the affairs of Zone 13.

“We will continue to provide the community support the Police need to effectively carry out their responsibilities. I will ensure that every PCRC member in Anambra and Enugu is carried along. No one will be left behind,” he stated.

Expressing appreciation to members, Okeke commended the National Chairman for overseeing what he described as a transparent and credible electoral process.

“I appreciate the National Chairman for conducting an election that was open, transparent and acceptable to everyone. I also thank all PCRC members in Zone 13 for believing in my vision,” he added.

Also speaking, the newly elected Vice Chairman I, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nweke, emphasized that effective policing requires active community participation, noting that security remains a shared responsibility.

“The role of the PCRC in effective policing cannot be overemphasized. As part of this new leadership, I will work to mobilize greater community support for the Police across the zone,” Nweke said.

Earlier, National PCRC Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, congratulated the newly elected executives, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the committee’s democratic ideals.

“The election was keenly contested, peaceful and acceptable to everyone. That is the mandate given to us by the Inspector-General of Police—to ensure that every stakeholder is carried along,” Olaniyan said.

He urged the new leadership to work in harmony and sustain support for the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to combat crime and promote peace across the two states.

Delegates from the PCRC chapters in Anambra and Enugu States participated in the election, while the Chairman of the PCRC in Ebonyi State, Michael Mkpukpu, served as the Returning Officer.
