The Anambra Patriots (APS), a socio-political group promoting good governance and accountability in Anambra State, has honoured three of its members for their recent appointments and achievements in public service and leadership.
The reception, held at the group’s secretariat in Awka on Sunday, brought together members of the state executive, local government and ward coordinators, as well as other stakeholders.
The honourees were the Convener of Anambra Patriots and Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch. Okey Ezeobi; the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, who was recently reappointed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo; and the Chairman of Anambra Patriots and newly elected President of the Anambra Country Club, Chief Damian Enekwechi.
In his opening remarks, the traditional ruler of Umueri and patron of the group, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Sir Dr. Ben Izuchukwu Emeka (Oke Ebo II), said the event was organised to celebrate members who had been entrusted with greater responsibilities and had distinguished themselves through service.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for recognising competence and rewarding excellence through strategic appointments, describing the honourees as products of merit and dedication.
The royal father urged members of the group to remain steadfast in promoting good governance, integrity and accountability, noting that commitment to service would always attract recognition.
Responding, Arch. Ezeobi expressed appreciation to Anambra Patriots for the honour and thanked Governor Soludo for appointing him Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure.
He described the recognition as a source of encouragement and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service.
“I am overwhelmed by this recognition. I am a son of a widow, and God has raised me from grass to grace. I sincerely appreciate Anambra Patriots for finding me worthy of this honour,” he said.
Ezeobi also commended members for sustaining the group over the years, noting that while many political support groups had faded, Anambra Patriots had remained united and committed to its ideals.
Also speaking, Agbata thanked God, Governor Soludo and members of Anambra Patriots for the recognition, describing it as unique and inspiring.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the state’s digital transformation agenda and contributing to the socio-economic development of Anambra through technology-driven initiatives.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of congratulatory plaques to the honourees by the Forum of Local Government Coordinators of Anambra Patriots.
