The family of the late Lucky Adimike has issued a response to an interview granted by his wife, Chizoba, accusing her of misrepresenting facts and attempting to alter the narrative surrounding his death.

In a statement signed by Ekene Adimike, the family said it had remained silent since Lucky’s passing out of respect for his memory and to preserve the dignity of the family, but said recent developments had made a public response necessary.

“Yesterday, we woke up to an interview granted by Chizoba, the wife of our late brother, Lucky Adimike,” the statement read. “It is on record that Lucky’s brothers have never released any public statement or disclosed what we know about his death. We have deliberately remained silent because we wanted to protect our brother’s name and preserve the dignity of his family.”

According to the family, their silence had been misinterpreted by some members of the public, who accused them of withholding information or shielding those responsible for their brother’s death.

“Despite our silence, many members of the public have accused us of hiding the truth or attempting to cover up the gruesome murder of our brother,” the statement continued. “Personally, I reached out to several bloggers and friends who had shared the news and posted his pictures. Many of them agreed to remove their posts out of respect for the family.”

The family alleged that while they were still grieving and trying to protect the family’s privacy, Chizoba took legal action against them.

“A week later, however, our brother’s wife went to court seeking to stop the investigation and also petitioned the Inspector General of Police against the very family that had been doing everything possible to protect her, our late brother’s reputation, and the family’s privacy,” Ekene said.

The statement further confirmed that the police investigation into Lucky’s death has been completed and that the matter is now before the court.

“The police investigation has now been concluded, and the matter is before the court,” the family stated, expressing disappointment that Chizoba still proceeded to grant an interview on Gbam TV after reportedly paying for the platform.

“Despite this, she chose to appear on Gbam TV, after making payment for the interview, where she gave what we believe to be a malicious account, targeting the same people who stood by her and protected her throughout this difficult period,” the statement added.

The family urged members of the public to exercise caution regarding the claims being circulated and to allow the judicial process to take its course.

“To members of the public, believe every claim at your own peril. The truth has a way of revealing itself, no matter how long it takes,” the statement warned.

The development has added another layer of tension to the already painful and controversial circumstances surrounding Lucky Adimike’s death, with the family insisting that they will no longer remain silent in the face of what they describe as falsehoods.
