Anambra Assembly Confirms Dr. Ezeka Uwaeme as ASHIA Executive Secretary/CEO

The Anambra State House of Assembly has unanimously approved Dr. Ezeka Uwaeme to lead the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) after a rigorous screening that tested his vision for healthcare delivery and system reform.

The plenary , presided over by Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze, saw lawmakers transition into a Committee of the Whole, where Dr. Uwaeme faced detailed questioning on his strategic plans for strengthening healthcare coverage and improving service delivery across the state.

Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Tony Muobike, led the interrogation, seeking clarity on policy direction, operational efficiency, and expansion of access to quality healthcare services under the agency’s mandate.

After reverting to plenary, Speaker Udeze commended Dr. Uwaeme’s performance, describing his responses as professional, structured, and indicative of readiness for leadership responsibility. He urged him to demonstrate innovation, discipline, and commitment in the execution of his duties.

Dr. Uwaeme, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to consolidate and expand existing gains within ASHIA, with a focus on improving healthcare access for residents across Anambra State. He also expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the nomination and thanked members of the Eighth Assembly for their unanimous confirmation before adjournment.
