The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, has commenced a two-day training programme aimed at equipping academic staff with modern skills in the digitization of students’ results, in a move that underscores the institution’s push toward full digital transformation.

Declaring the workshop open at the ICT Academy building of the Polytechnic, the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, described the initiative as a strategic intervention designed to strengthen institutional efficiency, improve academic service delivery, and align the school with global best practices in higher education administration.

She explained that results digitization involves the use of computer-based systems and digital platforms for the electronic recording, processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and management of students’ academic records, replacing the traditional manual approach.

According to her, the manual system has for years been affected by delays in result computation and release, calculation errors, loss of records, inefficient transcript processing, and poor data management structures. She stressed that the digital transition would enhance speed, accuracy, transparency, accountability, and ease of access to academic records.

Dr. Awuzie urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that its success depends on staff willingness to learn, adapt, and embrace technological innovation.

Also speaking, the Director of ICT at the institution, Dr. Amobi Chiamogu, expressed appreciation to the Rector for her consistent support and commitment to building a digitally driven academic environment.

He encouraged participants to fully engage in the training, emphasizing that effective digitization goes beyond infrastructure and software to include human readiness and adaptability to change.

Dr. Chiamogu also commended the Polytechnic’s management for the successful reaccreditation of its JAMB UTME CBT Centre and the smooth conduct of recent UTME examinations, describing it as evidence of the institution’s growing ICT capacity and operational efficiency.
