A House of Representatives aspirant for the Dunukofia-Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency Chief Tochukwu George Ibekie has promised to use his advantage of living in the United States of America to attract diaspora investments to the constituency if elected.

Ibekie who holds the title of Ifejimalumba Anaocha spoke while addressing the people of Nawgu in Dunukofia local government said his ability to attract people from the diaspora makes him a man of “Extended Capacity”.

He also promised to apply for ecological fund to mitigate the impact of erosion in the constituency which is reeling under erosion and other negative environmental impacts.

Ibekie said the only way to achieve that is by the people giving him the mandate to represent them in the National Assembly.

According to him, “It is no longer enough for aspirants to say they are going to represent and speak for the people in Abuja because State Government alone cannot shoulder the burden of development of the communities.

“People from the constituency living in the diaspora rank first in population, education and wealth.

“Yet, they don’t have confidence in investing at home for fear of losing money to fraudstars. But with me, such fear will be eliminated as most of the diasporas know me.

“If given the opportunity, funds stockpiled by the constituency diasporas will be channeled home to build factories that will create employment for the teaming population at home.

He added: “What scares many of them from investing at home is fear of losing capital on investment. But if they see one of their own speak to them, they will believe him.

“There are lots of our wealthy people living in America and overseas. I won’t leave everything to the state government. It is no longer enough to say I am going to speak for you in Abuja.”

Earlier, President-General of Nawgu Development Union (NDU), former mayor of Dunukofia local government Hon. Augustine Onyemobi among others harped on the need to nominate Ibekie and ensure he was elected to ensure beautiful programmes were implemented.

They praised Ibekie whose father was one of the pioneers in education in the community and said they have confidence in him.

Among those in attendance were Speaker of Dunukofia local government Chidimma Okeke, Ichie Felix Ogbu, Hon. Ben Ibekie, executive officers of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and several stakeholders in the community.
