The Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche has approved the deployment of CC Ezinne Onuoha as the new Controller of Corrections, Anambra State Command, following the retirement of CC Ike Anslem.
With Onuoha’s assumption of office, she becomes the first female Controller to head the Command.
In his farewell remarks at a brief but symbolic handover ceremony at the State Headquarters in Awka, outgoing Controller, CC Anselm Ike, expressed gratitude to officers and men of the Command for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure.
He noted that the modest achievements recorded were made possible through teamwork, discipline and dedication to duty, encouraging personnel to extend the same level of loyalty and professionalism to his successor.
In her acceptance speech, Onuoha thanked the Controller-General for the confidence reposed in her and described her appointment as both a privilege and a call to greater responsibility.
She commended her predecessor for laying a solid foundation and assured that she would consolidate on existing gains while introducing strategic measures aimed at enhancing security, strengthening custodial and non-custodial operations, and improving staff welfare.
She further charged officers and men of the Command to remain committed to the core values of the Service, emphasizing discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
“Effective corrections administration requires unity of purpose, professionalism, and adherence to established standards,” she added.
Highlights of the ceremony included the formal signing of handover notes, and a brief interaction with senior officers.
The event attended by principal officers of the Command, heads of units, and other personnel, marked the beginning of a new phase in the administration of corrections in the State.
