20 Commercial Sex Workers, 18 Male Accomplices Arrested in Anambra Brothel over Alleged Prostitution, Drug Peddling

20 suspected commercial Female sex workers and 18 males have been apprehended in a brothel at Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State by the operatives of the State Security outfit, Agunechemba.

Among the apprehended males are the Manager of the brothel, the Supervisor, Bar Attendant and Storekeeper.

The Operatives swooped on brothel located at Y-Junction in Okpuno area of Awka on Saturday night, uncovering an alleged major criminal den serving as a prostitution and hard drug peddling hub.

During the raid, the team recovered some illicit drugs that include Tramadol, Indian hemp, nitrous oxide Rohypnol and one locally made single-barrel short gun.

The Manager of the Centre, Paul Chibuike admitted that drugs were sold in the area but denied ownership of the firearm.

He claimed that some of the suspects arrested as prostitutes were students who use the centre during weekends to make money for their upkeep.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria Correspondent Uche Ndeke, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security Mr Ken Emeakayi said following the discoveries and exhibits recovered from the brothel, would be confiscated by the Anambra State government based on the provisions of the Anambra State Homeland Security law 2025.

Meanwhile, #anambradaily gathered that the building housesing the arrested girls had been demolished by Anambra State government.
