Apprentice, 21 Lands in Prison for Murdering His Master, Stealing His N8 Million

A 21-year old man has been remanded in correctional facility over alleged murder of one Ikechukwu Nwite and theft of his funds in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The suspect, Chiemerie Anieke was remanded together with his accomplice, Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo in connection with the murder and the subsequent theft of his funds.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said the remand followed the suspects arraignment by Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the State Police Command, on March 18, 2026.

He said the prime suspect, Chiemerie Anieke ‘M’, aged 21, allegedly used a pestle to strike his employer, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwite, on the head, resulting in his death.

He added that the suspect was also linked to an attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite at Fegge, Onitsha.

“He was arraigned before the High Court, Onitsha, alongside one Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, aged 21 years, who allegedly aided the commission of the crime by providing a bank account through which over N8 million belonging to the deceased was fraudulently transferred.

“The Operatives of the Command recovered the sum of N6 million from the suspects, being part of the stolen funds, which has been tendered as exhibit in the ongoing court proceedings.

“The suspects have since been remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in the matter.

“The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and warns individuals against engaging in criminal activities, as the long arm of the law will always catch up with offenders.”
