An Onitsha based businessman, Godwin Sunday Okechukwu has cried out to the new Inspector General of Police, IGP, Tunde Disu to come to his rescue following ordeal he allegedly went through in the hands of the IGP Special Investigation Unit, (SIU) Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Okechukwu, in a chat with newsmen claimed he had an agreement with Modebe Enterprises Ltd, to reconstruct a two-storey building to three-storey building at Menace Ochanja market Onitsha.

His words, “I abide by the agreement and finished the project as agreed. Then sometime in March last year, a girl who claimed to know a former IGP, with policemen from SIU Abuja, in commando way, double crossed my car with their Sienna bus and shuttle bus at about 7am as I was on a school run.

“They immediately handcuffed me and kept me at the back of the car and asked me where the school was and I told them and on getting to the school, they dropped my children at the school gate and my kids were crying and we zoomed off to Anti Cult police station Obosi where I was kept for two days.

“They collected my International passport and left the car at Anti cult police Obosi and took me to SIU Abuja and detained me at Garki police station.

After some days the commander of the SIU, ACP Moses Jolugbo, and his second in Command, SP Shilamite Ilodigwe, interviewed me and Shilamite said I should bring #500million before I will be released with my car that was parked at Anticult Obosi and the confiscated International passport.

“I then asked them for what, that I had an agreement with Modebe Enterprises for a contract and that the contract has been completed and more over that it is a civil matter.

“On the second day of the interview, the girl that brought the police that arrested me came and said I should off my hands from the entire plaza (building).

“The girl boasted that from detention I will go to prison if I dare come near the plaza again and I was detained for 17 days by the duo of Moses and Ilodigwe and after my detention I returned to Onitsha without my car and passport

“Later I took a flight to SIU Abuja to demand for my car key and passport. Getting to SIU Abuja, I met with SP Ilodigwe and demanded for the release of my car and passport and Ilodigwe became furious saying, “We are talking about you bringing #500 million and you are talking about a car, what is car, how much is a car.

“He ordered me to leave SIU immediately and return to Onitsha that the items will not be released until I bring the #500 million.

“I left for Onitsha and prayed God to come to my rescue. It is now one year that Moses and Ilodigwe are still holding my car that is still at Anticult Obosi with my International passport.

“I am happy that today a new IGP by name Tunde Disu, a God fearing man, has come on board because all these things were happening in the time of the immediate past IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.

“Fasasi Abiodun is also one of the SIU police officers that detained me for the 17 days as they all work together.

“I plead to IGP Disu to intervene so that my car and passport will be returned to me. I’m happy the way he is restructuring the police force and I hope the bad eggs will not go scott free.”
