Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Sector Command has launched a sensitization exercise against drunk driving among commercial drivers in the State.

The exercise was launched in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state.

Speaking during the launch, Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekahuno said the aim is to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities by 10% through data-driven intervention.

She regretted that most recorded crashes on Nigerian roads are attributed to drunk driving, urging drivers to desist from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

NDLEA Team Leader Mrs. Priscilia Onyema highlighted dangers of drug abuse, warning that it increases fatality rates and leads to family dependency and societal liability.

She commended the drivers and advised them to remain steadfast, while cautioning them against drunk driving.

The sensitization exercise covered Rivers Joy Motor Park, Royal Mass Transit, Peace Mass Transit, and Eastern Mass Transit, with 14 drivers testing negative for alcohol using breathalyzers.
