No fewer than 3,000 Christian clerics drawn from across Anambra State and beyond are set to converge in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, on January 15 for a covenant renewal gathering.

The event is being organised by clerics under the umbrella of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM).

Participants expected at the gathering include bishops, pastors, prophets, prophetesses, deacons, deaconesses, and other men and women of God from different denominations.

Addressing journalists in Nnewi on Tuesday, the Anambra South Senatorial Zone leader of the group, Apostle Akunne Chukwuemeka, said the covenant renewal meeting was aimed at thanking God for what he described as answered prayers and divine mercy.

According to him, the clerics have made it a tradition to appreciate God annually, particularly at moments they consider critical in their spiritual journey.

“We are at the brink of the river to cross over. God has answered our prayers, and it is important that we return all the glory to Him,” Apostle Chukwuemeka said.

He added that the gathering would be a time of thanksgiving, spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to God, as the group believes it is entering a new phase marked by divine intervention and fulfilment of long-held prayers.

Also speaking, Director of Ihiala Legion and current Administrator of Area 3, Apostle Cyril Ohanebo, said the day would be dedicated to communion with God, thanksgiving, and prayers for the future.

He noted that the clerics would use the occasion to appreciate God and to celebrate what he described as better days ahead, which he said have been divinely ordained.

“We believe God has set a time to free His people, just as He delivered the Israelites. This gathering is to acknowledge Him and prepare spiritually for what lies ahead,” Apostle Ohanebo said.

The organisers expressed confidence that the event would be peaceful and spiritually uplifting, while also calling on participants to maintain order and unity throughout the programme.
