Soludo Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes, Reiterates Commitment to Honouring their Sacrifices

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State says his administration is committed to honouring the sacrifices of men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, who paid the supreme price to maintain national peace and unity.

Governor Soludo stated this during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Mass held at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral,Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Governor Soludo acknowledged that the State has greatly benefited from the efforts of the Armed Forces in restoring peace and commended them for their role in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Governor Soludo who reflected on the sacrifices of military personnel who lost their lives during service, prayed for the repose of their souls and promised his administration’s continued support to their welfare.

The Governor however, commended the police and joint security task force for ensuring a peaceful Yuletide and new year celebrations, saying that their efforts encouraged the mass return of Anambra indigenes to their communities.

Earlier in a homily during a Mass, the Catholic Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Awka , the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, extolled the Armed Forces for their selfless service, and prayed God to continue to sustain them.

The Most Reverend Ezeokafor urged governments at all levels to prioritize the welfare of serving and retired military personnel, citing their invaluable contributions to national development.

The event featured special prayers for members of the Armed Forces, the repose of souls of former military personnel, and for Nigeria’s peace and Unity.
