The newly elected President General of the Awka Development Union of Nigeria (ADUN), Chief Chinwuba Fredrick, has paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko, to discuss Awka development plans as he assumes office.
The meeting which took place at ACTDA office in Awka was attended by members of the ADUN executive and ACTDA Management team.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Chinwuba stated that his administration is committed to the growth and development of Awka and its environs, noting that the new executives comprises of professionals from diverse fields ready to deliver meaningful results.
In his response, Dr. Onuko congratulated the President General on his election and urged him to remain focused, emphasising that the development of Awka largely depends on the collective efforts of Ndi Awka.
He highlighted Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to transforming Awka into a modern city while assuring that the government would continue to expand infrastructure, including major and internal roads across the capital territory.
However, Dr. Onuko charged the new ADUN executives to prioritise youth development, stressing that Awka is a metropolitan city accommodating people from all walks of life. He expressed concern over the rising “get rich quick” mentality among youths and called for the establishment of trust funds and skill acquisition programmes to productively engage young people. He further assured the ADUN leadership of ACTDA’s full support.
Delivering his vote of thanks, the Vice President (North) of ADUN, Barr. Nnamdi Obiorah, thanked the ACTDA Managing Director for the warm reception and prayed for continued success for Dr. Onuko and Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
