Philanthropist/Social Activist Buries 90 Year Old Mother, Ezinne Ibe Amidst Tears, Tributes

Lady Ezinne Eunice Nwabugwu Ibe, the mother of a renowned philanthropist, entrepreneur and social activist, Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe has been committed to mother earth at her home town, Isu Village, Isu Awaa in Awgu local Goverent Area of Enugu State.

The final journey to eternity of late Ezinne Ibe, aged 90, commenced with service of songs, praise and worship night on Thursday, 18th day of December, at Ibe family event arena Isu Awaa, Awgu.

In recognition of her mother’s belief and compassion for the down trodden, Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe on Thursday, 17th December, 2025 distributed over one thousand bags of rice, gallons of vegetable oil and other spices to fifty families in twenty one communities that make up Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu state.

The requiem service was held at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark (Anglican church) Isu Awaa.

In his homily, the homilist and Bishop incharge of the Dioceses of Awgu and Aninri, Rt Rev’d Dr. Benson Chukwunweike, charged Christians to live a life worthy of emulation.

The prelate noted that it’s good for Christians to do things that they will be remembered for after their sojourn on earth, adding that the scripture revealed that it is appointed onto men to die and after that, comes judgement.

“As a living thing, take note that you will die one day. How will your end be? He asked .

“We are living in a world that men are faster than God. Whatever blessing that is not from God will place one on the run.

“What do you want to be remembered for? Is it the crisis instigated in your family or peace, love and unity you preached? In every single day in your life, make sure that you are at peace with God, your maker” he urged.

The burial was attended by friends, family and political leaders, including the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Oti, Chief Olisa Metu, Barr. Osita Chidoka, Chidi Nwokeabia, Raph Ezeoma, Yakubu Petreside, Austin Nwankwo, Martins Chukwunweike among others.

Late Ezinne Eunice Ibe was blessed with 8 beautiful children, 32 grandchildren and 9 great grand children .

The deceased first son, Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe who describe his mother as mother Theresa said her late mum was a virtus woman .

“Her legacy of alms giving all and love for the downtrodden, the poor , the deprived and orphan made her outstanding.
That legacy I will uphold so dearly and hold on to it until my last breath.

“In our family, we promised to remain indivisible family bound in love and unity.

Her first daughter, Lady Idah Anayo Ogoke in her tribute said “mama was a woman with mission ,a life that glowed with faith simplicity. Every one who crossed her path was touched by her benevolent nature and word of wisdom. She spoke peace and was peaceful throughout her lifetime.

Other children including Blessing Onuchukwu, Edwin Uchenna Ibe, Ugonna Reginald Ibe, Juliet Nkem Ude, Schwarz Eziekwe Ibe and Vera Uzoamaka Adibe in their tributes describe their mother as woman of peace .

“You prayed for a peaceful death and God granted it to you, I will miss you ma, who will call me Anebe Ogo ?

” To Mamoo, Family was everything, our mum was a bridge builder who remembered and related with anyone who had a bond with her notwithstanding how distance the relationship was.

“My mother did not die rather she ascended to the throne of grace to meet her colleagues at the right time as the angels could not wait to have taste of her beautiful spirit .

“Your transition was that of a saint ,Since then till now no one has called me ( Nnemu Oche Owa Uzoamaka Vero and the rest )You will continue to live in my memories.

Ibe in his vote of thanks, thanked all for the kind expressions of sympathy following the passing of mother Ezinne Eunice .

“Your support at this difficult time is very much appreciated and has been great to all of the family .

“No word can express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for this overwhelming
support and kindness” he said.
