UNIZIK VC Promises to Tackle High School Facility Shortages, Poor Remuneration, Others

Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie has promised to address classroom shortages, poor remuneration, dilapidated facilities and other challenges facing the University High School (UHS).

The VC who made the promise during his visit to the school while touring some facilities in the institution also expressed concerns over poor state of the school premises.

Anyaehie who was warmly received by the Principal, Mrs. Israel Atinuke, Vice Principals and teaching staff, immediately directed the Principal to oversee the cutting of overgrown grasses.

Teachers, during the engagement had raised critical concerns, including severe classroom shortages, poor remuneration, dilapidated facilities and an unequipped library.

The VC instructed the Principal to compile all grievances, just as he announced the formation of a special committee to ensure systematic resolution of the deeper issues.

The committee will be chaired by Chairman of the Parents-Teachers Council, Prof. Ugochukwu Okonkwo.

Other members of the committee are Acting Director of the Works Department, Engr. Joseph Onyenweife and the two Vice Principals of the school.

Other facilities visited by the VC, in company with the University Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Okeke were the Early Childhood and Primary Education Department, the non-functional University Water Factory, UNIZIK Football Pitch and the Records Unit of the Registry Department.
