Anambra Schools Emerge Best Public Schools in WAEC/Vertebra Merit Awards

Community Secondary School, Eziowelle and Mater Amabilis Secondary School Umuoji, both in Idemili North local government area of the state have emerged the best public schools in Nigeria.

This was announced by West African Examination Council/Vertebra Ltd National Merit Award in a letter addressed to the Commissioner for Education Anambra State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.

According to the letter, Community Secondary School Eziowelle was declared the best public secondary school in the Sciences, while Mater Amabilis Secondary School Umuoji was the overall best public secondary school in all subjects.

The letter signed by the Branch Controller of the West African Examination Council Anambra State, Abejide T.M., stated that the awards would be presented at the formal opening of the 63rd annual meeting of the Nigeria National Committee.

The letter further disclosed that the event would hold on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the Micheal Opara Auditorium, Umuahia, Abia State.

Reacting, Anambra state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh congratulated the awardees for their outstanding performances.

“The award winning schools, through this feat, has demonstrated to the world that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s investment in education has been yielding the desired dividend,” she added.
