The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election.

Announcing the result at the INEC Headquarters in Awka on Sunday, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.

According to INEC, Soludo won convincingly in all 21 local government areas of the state.

Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, a total of 598,229 were accredited for the election. 595,298 votes were cast, with 584,054 valid votes and 11,244 rejected ballots recorded.

Prof. Omoregie stated that although some results were cancelled in parts of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South due to incidents in certain polling areas, the margin of lead between candidates was greater than the number of affected votes, hence the outcome remained unaffected.

He described the election as largely peaceful and transparent, adding,

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes, I, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, hereby declare Chukwuma Soludo of APGA winner and return him elected as Governor of Anambra State.”

Soludo’s victory marks his second term in office and reinforces APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics.
