National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra state has charged corps members to remain politically neutral and uphold the highest standards of integrity in preparation to serve as ad-hoc personnel in the November 8 gubernatorial election in the state.

State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua gave the advice during a Zonal Sensitisation Programme warned the over 3,000 corps members present against any form of partisanship, inducement, or misconduct during the election.

“You are ambassadors of the NYSC. Your duty is to serve the nation impartially, with discipline, integrity, and courage. Remember — your neutrality is sacred and your integrity non-negotiable,” she stated.

Ojisua highlighted the strong partnership between NYSC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which began in 2008 and was formalised through Memorandum of Understanding ensuring Corps Members’ welfare, logistics, and insurance coverage while on election duty.

She urged participants to strictly adhere to INEC guidelines, maintain professionalism, and prioritise their personal safety throughout the electoral process.

“INEC takes care of the welfare of each participating corps member covering training, transportation and election day allowances,” she disclosed.

The sensitisation exercise, attended by representatives of FRSC, NSCDC and DSS, brought together corps members from Awka South, Awka North, Dunukofia, and Njikoka Local Government Areas.
