The Federal government has been called upon to deliberately make effort for the establishment of Gas infrastructure investment in the South-East zone Nigeria .
The Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide Forum, Anambra State Presidents made the call shortly after a crucial meeting held in Awka Anambra state .
During the briefing tagged, AWKA DECLARATION 2025 the group presented their demands and also made passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu describing him as father of the nation.
AccordIng to the Forum which comprise Presidents from the five Eastern states, it is very necessary for President Tunubu to consider the zone where Nigeria has the highest gas deposit with a view to properly localising a reasonable proportion of benefits to the South-East and parts of South-South zones of Nigeria.
The President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Rivers State , Comrade Livingstone Wechie who read out the communique noted that exclusion of Southeast from the nation’s high-pressure gas pipeline infrastructure is unacceptable.
He noted that the seeming snub or omission of the region from the critical gas pipeline projects, despite its substantial natural gas reserves and industrial potential, has undoubtedly reinforced longstanding narrative of neglect.
The Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide used the medium to make a Save Our Soul demand for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, without further delay.
They noted that it was a passionate appeal to President Tinubu noting that as long as Mazi Kanu remains unjustly in prison , it means the entire Igbos are in jail.
“As Long as Nnamdi Kanu Remains Unjustly in Prison, to us, All Igbos are in jail. We beg you Mr. President do Just this one thing for Ndigbo. Look away from any sentiment and release Nnamdi Kanu to us and let Ndigbo have peace.”
The Forum called on the President to also order the immediate and unconditional release of all Ndi-Igbo in their numbers languishing in various detention facilities across Nigeria as a result of the struggle including innocent victims of the Oyigbo 2020 incident in Rivers state.
“We are ready to partner His Excellency Mr. President on all issues to restore order and justice in Igbo land”
The forum while appreciating Mr. President’s establishment of the South-East Investment Company as well as the South-East Development Commission, strongly urged him to evince his patriotic spirit that he is known for by taking extraordinary intentional steps to fully incorporate and integrate Ndi-Igbo in the governance of Nigeria.
This they said is to give them a fullest sense of their Nigerianness in every sense of the word particularly in the mainstream of economic and political inclusiveness as well as more critical infrastructure projects should be sited in the area.
