Anambra Guber Poll: Obidients Solidly Behind Moghalu, Ready to Defend Their Votes – Tanko

The National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Dr. Yunusa Tanko has disclosed that members of the amorphous political movement backing Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential bid in Anambra State have regrouped and battle ready for the Anambra governorship election.

He further disclosed that the Obidient Movement members in Anambra are backing the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Chief George Moghalu.

Tanko, made the declaration at a press conference held at Moghalu’s campaign office, in Awka.

Flanked by the Spokesperson of Obidient Movement, South East Zone, Ambassador Kingland Ezeani and Deputy Labour Party chairman, Anambra State, Hon. Ossy Okafor, Mr. Tanko said the movement was puting in place mechanisms to ensure that rigging, vote-buying and other malpractices did not take place during the November 8 governorship election.

The statement read in parts:

“We are here today with a clear message of readiness, unity and resolve for the Obedient Movement as Anambra State prepare for its forthcoming governorship election.

“Let it be stated unequivocally that the Obedient family is one, united and ready to go and that we are fully on ground in every part of Anambra State.

“We have completed the inauguration of our Polling Unit commanders across all units in the state.

And this process had i every community, ward, all on the grassroot. We are trying to mobilize and activate all of our structure.

“Our commitment is simple to protect the mandate of the people and ensure that the voice of Anambrarians and citizens of Nigeria is not stolen or silence like what we witnessed in the 2023 general elections.

“We have put in place robust mechanism and digital technology to make any attempt to rig or manipulate the election process. Remember, we launch what we call a GOMERD, Go and Register and Make Election Rigging Difficult. That particular technology will be put into use where live coverage of results will be delivered to all Anambrarians and Nigerians in general.

“Any contradiction from those results from the polling unit will be fully exposed to the Nigerian public and Anambrarians alike. The area where result will be written in behind doors is over.

“The generation of Nigerians who are Gen Z at the moment are ready to challenge the establishment in giving us a clear cut election results, these generations of Obidients will not allow the old order of electoral malpractices to thrive again.

” We are not just participating. We are prepared, coordinated and resolute our young people, women, professionals and volunteers are mobilized and trained to monitor every step of the process, from accreditation to vote counting and result transmission.

“Let it be known that the obedient movement in Anambra is united, discipline and focus.

“There is no division, no fiction, and no confusion. We stand together under one vision, the vision of a new Nigeria that begin from our polling unit.

“We call on the Independent Electoral Commission INEC, especially now, and we have a new INEC chairman, which will be his first test case if we have a credible election in Anambra to prove that he’s really ready for the 2027 general election to remain impartial and professional.

I’m warned that any compromise of the process will be resisted through law and a democratic means. We also urge all security agencies to ensure that voters are protected and that every citizen can exercise their franchise without fear intimidation or inducement, especially now know that the attempt is to buy voters perpetually. This particular government have put in poverty into their life, and they have seen the difference. Citizen. We say this, the vote is your power. Protect it, use it wisely.
