Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI) has called on all citizens, particularly the youth to take their role in nation-building seriously.

Executive Director of CATYCOI, Nonso Orakwe, who made the call in a statement in celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, urged “All Hands on Deck” for a Youth-Powered Future.

CATYCOL is a youth–led non-profit, non-partisan community-based organization that aims at contributing to the global effort that advances good governance and democracy, civic engagement, and policy.

CATYCOI works to foster a generation of leaders dedicated to positive social change and democratic growth.

According to Orakwe, members of his group were already at the forefront of tackling some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.

The statement partly reads, “As Nigeria marks its 65th anniversary of independence, the Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI) joins the nation in reflecting on its journey and looking ahead to a future built on the strength and innovation of its youth.

“The celebration, themed “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” resonates deeply with CATYCOI’s mission to empower the next generation of leaders.

“This milestone is a powerful reminder that the future of Nigeria rests on our collective shoulders.

“It is a call to action for every Nigerian young and old to unite in service to our beloved country and build a truly prosperous and inclusive future.”

Orakwe highlighted the critical role of young people as the driving force behind this vision.

“At the heart of our work at CATYCOI is the unwavering belief that the youth are not just beneficiaries of a better Nigeria; they are the architects of it,” he explained.

“We are dedicated to nurturing a generation of active, engaged citizens who are equipped to champion good governance, uphold democratic values, and drive civic engagement in their communities.

“We work to inspire their active participation, bridge societal divides, and advocate for policies that create opportunities for all.

“Our young people are ready to lead. They are actively involved in improving electoral processes, promoting social responsibility, and contributing to the very fabric of nation-building.

“Their energy and ideas are the engines needed to create a Nigeria where democracy thrives, opportunities abound, and every single voice matters.”

CATYCOI concluded its statement with a message of hope and patriotism.
