Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has said that priority attention given to the education sector by Governor Chukwuma Soludo is aimed at realizing the goal of building a smart megacity to be inhabited by smart people.
Chuma-Udeh stated this at the commissioning of a story block, housing the examination hall, digital library and other facilities for digital upbringing of students from Pioneer Secondary School Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area.
According to her, the Governor declared a state of emergency in education and hit the ground running, ending the era of schools without teachers.
“He declared real free education and established the smart schools,” she noted.
The Commissioner appreciated the Aguata Council Chairman, Prince Ofobike, for renovating the block in support of Soludo’s education agenda.
Ofobike on his part praised the Governor for anchoring all the agenda geared towards setting the State right on education.
“The renovated block and other ongoing projects at Umuchu Community High School and the Govt. Technical College Umuchu are the results of the collaboration of well meaning illustrious sons of Umuchu at home and in diaspora.
“This is our own way of supporting Gov. Soludo’s transformation agenda through education.
Appreciating the benefactors and the Commissioner for their presence at the project commissioning, President General of Umuchu Improvement Union, Union Representative Assembly, Ifeanyi Emegwa said they envisioned brighter future for the youth bolstered by quality education and state of art infrastructure.
The Principal of the school thanked the Council boss for his generosity and support which have created a remarkable space for education to thrive.
