Labour Party (LP) in Anambra state has expressed disappointment over campaign style of Governor Chukwuma Soludo ahead of November 8 governorship election.

State Deputy Chairman, OCN Okafor said Soludo has never campaigned based on achievements and performance but on intimidation and bullying of other political parties’ candidates.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo

He said Anambra politics was never this toxic before Soludo’s emergence as Governor, urging him to be more mature than being petty.

The statement reads, “There’s an igbo adage that says “okenye a’diro a’no na uno ewu anwuo na ogbuli”, simply put “an elder does not stay at home and the goat dies on a rope”.

“A few of us who started from scratch and rose to prominence politically didn’t get there by insulting our elders and leaders.

“Yes, Sen. Uche Ekwunife is not just one of our best, she is the BEST! She is unarguably the most successful politician in Anambra, aside His Excellencies Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Chris Ngige.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife was and still the only politician that has ran, won, and got sworn in, in 4 consecutive elections.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife was the first to transit to 2 levels of National Assembly before Sen. Tony Nwoye did it in 2023 election.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife was and still the longest served legislator from Anambra.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife is still the most relevant politician in Anambra from 2007 to date, apart from HE Peter Obi.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife, as a legislator, has touched and empowered people across the state. A record no one has surpassed to date.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife remains the only female Senator from Anambra Central, an achievement she has the bragging right for.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife has the most die-hard and cult followership supporters in the entire Anambra, apart from HE Mr. Peter Obi and Sen. Tony Nwoye.

“Having stayed as a governor for 3years and 6months, Governor Soludo should focus his campaign on his achievements, and not iko onu.

“Since the commencement of open campaign, it is on record that Governor Soludo has not campaigned based on his achievements and performance, rather on intimidation and bullying of other political parties candidate.

“Soludo should be more mature as a governor than being petty. Is this how he wants to earn his 2nd tenure? The answer is HELL-NO!

Bottomline: As stated in the 1999 Constitution, “the primary responsibility of any government is to protect lives and properties, and welfare of the people”. Under Soludo’s government, Anambra has lost over 300 lives, ranked as the highest in kidnapping in the southeast and impoverishing her indigenes.

I call on young people to reach out to Soludo media boys, particularly Ejimofor Opara and Adichie, to desist from further attacking our leaders and elders.

“He that pays the piper dictates the tone”. Therefore, Ejimofor Opara and Izuchukwu Adichie can not be insulting and attacking people without the consent and approval of their boss, Prof. Soludo.

Meanwhile, in all of these provocations, Sen. Ekwunife did not react or respond to Soludo media aides attacks on her until Prof. Soludo openly on live television and event attacked her by himself, at this point she needed to defend herself.

Furthermore, both of them are distinguished Ndi Anambra, one a Governor, another a Senator, and both deserves each others respects, irrespective of gender.

Anambra politics was never this toxic before Prof. Soludo became the Governor.

We are all Ndi-Anambra, no one is a more and bigger Anambra than the other, and some things would NEVER be tolerated and accepted ANY LONGER!

This was not what our leaders and elders thought us!
