EEDC Blames Power Blackout in Anambra, Enugu on Explosion at Transmission Station

Anambra State and Oji River in Enugu State have been thrown into darkness following an explosion at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station at Awada, Anambra state.

Group Head, Corporate Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) Emeka Ezeh who disclosed this in a statement, said the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 2:34am.

He said the EEDC technical team has been on standby, closely following up with the TCN team working assiduously to address the situation.

He appealed for patience on the part of the customers, expressed hope of soon restoration of supply.

He said, “The management of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform its esteemed customers in Anambra State and Oji River, Enugu State that the power outage being experienced is due to an explosion at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station at Awada, which occurred today, at about 2:34am.

“As a result of this development, all our customers in the entire Anambra State and Oji River in Enugu State have been out of electricity supply.

“We are on standby, closely following up with the TCN team who has been working assiduously to address the situation. We hope that supply will be restored soon, once they are done.

“We sincerely understand the inconvenience this would have caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their patience.

“We assure our customers of our continued commitment to providing improved services.”
