Jubilation as 2 Federal Polytechnic Oko Graduates Bag NYSC Presidential Honors Award

Wild jubilation erupted as two graduates of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state have been honoured by President Bola Tinubu with the President’s NYSC Honours Award for outstanding service during their service as corp members.

The awardees are Miss Okeke Nwakaego from Mass Communication Department and Mr. Ikwor Chinedu from Microbiology Department.

The award was presented at the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held at the banquet hall of the presidential villa.

The ceremony attracted top government officials, NYSC leadership, dignitaries and family members of the awardees.

A total of 210 ex-corp members were honoured with the award at the ceremony.

Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu commended the awardees for their outstanding service.

He emphasized the role of corps members in national unity and development.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his address congratulated all the awardees
and expressed appreciation for their selfless service during their NYSC year.

Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha highlighted government’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths and ensuring their talents are nurtured.

He further urged the awardees to remain exemplary citizens, to continue contributing positively to society and to serve as role models for other young Nigerians.

The President announced automatic employment into the Federal Civil Service for the awardees, cash rewards of ₦250,000 for each of them and scholarship opportunities up to Ph.D. level for further studies.

For the awardees, the President’s NYSC Honours Award is not just a recognition of their past efforts but also an empowerment for the future.

It is a reminder of the importance of national service and the opportunities that come with dedication and excellence .

The award is indeed a great honour not only to our two graduates but also to Federal Polytechnic Oko.

We say a big congratulations to Okeke Nwakaego Maria who served in Kebbi Television Service, Kebbi State and Ikwor Chinedu Chima who served in Ansural Islam Secondary School, Baruten LGA, Kwara State for making their families and our Polytechnic proud.

They embody resilience, excellence, hardwork, creativity and service which are hallmarks which Federal Polytechnic Oko is known for.

We wish them the best in their future endeavours.
