APGA’s Azikiwe Floors APC, ADC, PDP in Anambra Assembly Bye-election

Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA Ifeoma Mimi Azikiwe has emerged winner of the Anambra state House of Assembly bye election.

Ifeoma Mimi Azikiwe of APGA, floored the candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC the All Progressives Congress APC and the people’s Democratic party PDP in the election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

The result was announced early Sunday morning by the INEC’s Returning Officer, RO for Onitsha North 1 bye election, ProfIbiam Ekpe

Ekpe, announced that APGA scored 7,774 votes to defeat the candidate of the (ADC), Mrs Justice Azuka, who garnered 1,909 votes, while APC polled 1,371

The lecturer from the federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO), said that the flag bearer of APGA returned elected having polled the highest number of votes

He commended the contestants for their peaceful conduct and voters for turning out en-masse to exercise their franchise.

The bye election came up following the gruesome killing of late Justice Azuka by gunmen on the eve of 2024 Christmas

She will become the second female legislator in the eighth Assembly alongside Hon Nkechi Ogbuefi.
