Delta Govt Constitutes LOC for 2025 National Youth Games

Delta State government has unveiled an eight-man Local Organizing Committee (LOC) tasked with delivering a world-class event that will reaffirm Delta’s status as Nigeria’s sports powerhouse as the State hosts the 9th edition of National Youth Games.

The committee will be chaired by the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori while the functional Director General of the Sports Commission, Emuobo Igalase will serve as the secretary.

Other members of the committee include the former Super Eagles defender and current board member of the Sports Commission, Mr. Sam Sodje, Mr. Oghale Ofremu, Miss Henrietta Ehiabor, immediate past Director General of the Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero and Paul Omamomo-Ojo while the former
Commissioner for Sports, Chief Solomon Ogba was appointed as Adviser.

The LOC has been charged with organizing and hosting a successful 9th National Youth Games, which will officially commence on August 26 with the arrival of contingents from across the country in Asaba.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to staging an event that will showcase Delta’s proven capacity for sports excellence and its leadership in grassroots talent development.

Delta is no stranger to hosting major national sports events. From the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships to the 21st National Sports Festival in 2022, the state has consistently delivered top-tier facilities, flawless organization, and memorable competitions earning it a reputation as the go-to destination for major sporting showpieces in Nigeria.
