Labour Party in Anambra state has called on the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to run an issue-based campaign and respect the intelligence of the electorate.
The call followed recent remarks by Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors, Evang Chinedu Obigwe dismissing as “laughable” LP and Obidients family’s resolve to deliver over 2m votes to George Moghalu in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election.
Campaign Organization of Chief George Moghalu and Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro in a statement by Onyebuchi Okoye,
Special Assistant on Media to Dr. George Moghalu described Obigwe’s response as clear sign of discomfort and reflection of mindset trapped in yesterday’s politics.
The party reminded Obigwe that the people of the state were no longer responding to old political tricks but rather demanding results, dignity, and leadership they could trust.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Campaign Organization of Chief George Moghalu and Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro has been drawn to recent remarks by Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors, dismissing as “laughable” the resolve of the Labour Party and the Obidient family to deliver over two million votes in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election.
“Obigwe’s response is a clear sign of discomfort but more importantly, it reflects a mindset trapped in yesterday’s politics.
“This is 2025 and the people of Anambra are no longer responding to old political tricks. They are demanding results, dignity, and leadership they can trust.
“For too long, APGA has relied on emotional slogans like “Nke bu nke anyi” to manipulate sentiments. But Ndi Anambra can no longer be deceived.
“The same party that once drew strength from the legacy of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (God bless his soul) has abandoned the very ideals he stood for. The removal of his image from party materials speaks volumes.
“The APGA of today is not living up to Ojukwu’s dream. It has become a platform of exclusion and entitlement, remembered only during election season. Ndi Anambra are wiser now and they are demanding better.
“This election is not about personalities or history. It is about the future of Anambra State. It is about Dr. George Moghalu’s clear, actionable vision for a more inclusive, secure, and prosperous Anambra.
“It is about a man with a verifiable record of public service who is offering hope where others offer excuses.
“What is happening across the state today is not boastful talk. It is genuine grassroots momentum. From youth groups to market women, church leaders to town unions, Ndi Anambra are aligning with a movement built on integrity, accessibility, and results.
“Dr. Moghalu’s message is changing the narrative and restoring the people’s confidence in governance. Every day, more citizens are joining this call for a new Anambra that works for everyone, not just a privileged few.
“We also remind Mr. Obigwe that in the 2023 general elections, APGA, despite its incumbency and resources, failed to produce a single senator from Anambra. The handwriting is already on the wall.
“We call on APGA to run an issue-based campaign and respect the intelligence of the electorate. Because come November 8, it will be Ndi Anambra, not media warriors, who will decide the future of the state.
“And when they do, we hope Mr. Obigwe will find the grace and humility to submit his congratulations letter in the early hours of November 9.”
