Anambra govt awards N28bn Ekwulobia- Nnobi dual carriageway, other projects

Anambra state government has approved and awarded construction and Dualisation of Nnobi Road 32.6 km Ekwulobia to Nnobi Road to Geld Construction Ltd in the sum of ₦28,854,778,204.92.

Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor in a statement said the approval was made at the 14th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting held at the Light House, Awka.

He said the Council awarded a fourth dual carriageway, namely, the Ekwulobia to Nnobi Dualisation Road Project, to complete the linking of the four major Anambra cities by dual carriageways, thus completing the Anambra beltway to permit easy flow of traffic around the state.

According to Mefor, the Council also awarded supply and installation of Mechanical Appurtenances at College of Nursing Sciences to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd in the sum of N110,653,459.38.

He listed other approved projects to include construction of Metallic View-Point Barricade at the Light House, Awka awarded to Muterbonch & Company Nig Ltd in the sum of N488,431,355.92.

“Payment for Geophysical Survey/Mapping Charges: Release of N95,824,355.00 to Calyzid Ventures for 2,018.319 hectares of land.

“Construction of Outstanding Road Segments in Okpoko Area; awarded to IDC Construction Ltd in the sum of N2,028,140,956.25.

“Procurement, Installation, and Deployment of Digital Multi-Band Jammers; awarded to Intertrek Solutions and Services in the sum of N96,860,800.00,” he hinted.

The commissioner added, “ANSEC has reviewed and approved the progress report for the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP).

“As part of the State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) Programme, the state commits each year to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business.

“The progress of these reforms is continuously monitored to ensure sustainability and assess their impact on businesses in Anambra State.

“The initiatives have resulted in improvements in land administration, infrastructure investment, business processes, investment promotion and protection, tax administration, and access to justice through small claims courts, among other areas.

On the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), the Commissioner said the exercise was reviewed, while the hitches and solutions were noted.

“Public servants who have proof are to be allowed by their supervisors to be part of the CVR exercise,” he stated.

Mefor further revealed that ANSEC joined the nation in mourning passing of former Head of state and President, Muhammadu Buhari who passed away in a London hospital days ago, and observed a minute’s silence.
