Fresh facts have emerged on how security operatives under the aegis of ‘Operation Udo-Ga-Achi’ arrested two members of a notorious killer gang at Eziagulu Otu, Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The gang led by Chief Chinaka Udealor, a High Chief of Eziagulu Otu traditional kingdom, specializes in kidnapping, killing and harvesting vital organs of their victims for ritual purposes.
The deceased, identified simply as Samuel who was lured to the ring leader’s house where he was killed and body allegedly dismembered Chinaka Udealor, the fleeing leader of the gang, whose house had been raised down by irate youths
AnambraDaily gathered that the group had been operating undetected in the area until they killed a commercial motorcyclist identified simply as Samuel, and reposses his machine.
Following a tip off, operatives of ‘Operation Udo-Ga-Achi’, Anambra East team operating under the auspices of the council Mayor, Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze, arrested two principal actors in the crime.
The suspects, Ifeanyi Ogbanje and Emeka Ekwealor, indigenes of Eziagulu Otu Aguleri, confessed to the crime. Following interrogation, they made some confessional s statements, providing gory details of how they lured the deceased, a native of Isiokwe, Ivite Aguleri, to Chinaka’s house, killed and dismembered his body, and later sold his vital parts to a native doctor, known as ‘Odudu Tali na Amu’ for ritual purposes.
According to the two suspects, the gang leader (Udealor), who has since fled the area, had instructed Marcel Chinedu (Marcel Bad), a popular minstrel who was also part of the gang, to lure Samuel to his house for merriment not knowing that he was walking into a death trap.
Mr. Ogbanje, confessed: “Marcel Bad called, Samuel around 8 pm, telling him Chinaka (the gang leader) was around, (and) that he should come and join (at) where we were drinking. Samuel rushed to Chinaka’s house, where we were waiting. We held him down, and Chinaka stabbed him. I shot him in the head.
According to him, shortly after Samuel’s death, Chinaka cut off his limbs and other parts, and they disposed of his corpse in a nearby river.
Ogbanje futher claimed that he received N40,000 for his involvement in the gruesome killing of Samuel, and that he used the proceed to purchase fertilizer for his farming business.
The second suspect, Ekwealor also corroborated with Ogbanje’s confession before they led the security team to the crime scene, Udealor’s living room (parlour).
AnambraDaily futher gathered that angry youths from the community have already set the palatial home of the fleeing gang leader ablaze. It was further gathered that the traditional ruler of Eziagulu Otu, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia has withdrawn the traditional title of Ononunomalinma conferred on the ring leader, Chinaka Udealor. The withdrawal was announced in a statement issued by the palace secretary, Mr. Ignatius Nwabude and elder Edwin Okechi on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Tbis paper also learnt that the native doctor linked to the criminal gang had also been arrested while efforts were in top gear to apprehend the fleeing ring leader. A source who spoke to this paper, also revealed that the Anambra East Local Government Chairman, Sir Chinweze had given security operatives under the Operation Udo-Ga-Achi the machine order to arrest those connected to the deadly criminal activities in the area.
“The Mayor is really out to see that bad elements that are behind violent killings and criminalities in the local government are arrested and bring to book. He has made peace and restoration of normalcy, his number one priority and we are happy that his efforts is paying off”, the source who spoke with our staff on the condition of anonymity adds.
