So, Mr. Levi Obieze, the killer native doctor (Ezeani) who turned his country home in Umumba in Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State into a ritual coven where lured, kidnapped and unsuspecting citizens end up cold in the underground septic tank for the purpose of Oke-Ite and ritual money, actually managed to recover from the beating and fled his village?

Not only did the accused notorious killer vanish, he managed to travel all the way to Gbaji, near Seme Border, and was just few poles away from crossing into Benin Republic when he was stopped in his tracks by an eagle-eyed, smart and courageous officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.

It took a spirited and bold effort by Prince Ugochukwu Orji, the officer at the Gbaji NIS checkpoint, to stop the fleeing Obieze. But, he was desperate to escape justice and so offered Orji a N10 million blood money of a bribe. When the Orji rejected his offer, he threw his iPhone 13 Promax and Tecno Canon 19 mobile phones into the bargain, a bait that failed to compromise the dutiful officer who effectively blocked his passage. Kudos to this immigration officer for showing us that we still have credible men in the system.

But many questions must concern us here. How did this man manage to escape custody in Enugu state and make it to the Seme border? Was he set free by the elders of the village who were reported to have arrested him initially or did he escape while the villagers were busy discussing how to handle his case? Did they hand him over to the police to face justice? Did the police lock him up in one of their cells and begin their customary investigations?
Did someone come to bail him as investigative police officers were fast at work trying to uncover the mystery of his ritual murdering campaign to enable them build a solid case that would have ensured justice is served in the matter? If he was bailed from police custody over accusations of such gravity, who stood surety for him?

Did Ezeani escape police custody and disappear into thin air? Why did the police keep quiet over his whereabouts and no official statement made on the case until now? Due to the gravity of the crimes he is accused of committing, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, as well as the AIG Zone 13, ought to have prioritised this case highly on the list of unsolved murder cases in their jurisdictions. Why did they sit back and allow the suspect to run away?

Could it be that the native doctor was actually working in cahoots with some highly placed and powerful individuals in the society, who may fall from grace, once Ezeani implicates them? Could it mean that, as soon as they saw their man arrested and accused of the dark art of killing, they quickly arranged for him to be ferried outside the country while they work behind the scene to ensure that the case does not progress beyond police files?
Too many questions begging for answers here.
Whatever is playing out, the truth remains that no amount of cover-up can frustrate diligent investigation of the charges against this suspect guy and whoever else may be involved, all with a view to getting justice for the victims of the heinous crimes they have been alleged to have committed.

Indeed, victims of this ritualist group deserve justice and anyone standing in the way of this may end up a victim of that too. If any policeman or woman had been compromised by anybody, including the suspects, through bribery or similar unwholesome inducements, it is better for persons to start confessing now before it’s too late.
