The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Udochukwu Okafor, popularly known as “Small-Moto,” over alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and secessionist-related offences.
Okafor was arrested on October 24, 2026, in Ebenebe community, Awka North Local Government Area, during an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who announced the arrest on Sunday, said the suspect was reportedly on the Command’s wanted list before his apprehension.
According to Ikenga, the suspect allegedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to snatching a pump-action firearm from a vigilante operative in Ebenebe.
Police also said Okafor reportedly disclosed possession of a locally made short gun allegedly used by him and other members of his gang in their criminal operations.
“The suspect further allegedly admitted to membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as ‘Aro-Baggers,’ a group suspected of involvement in cult-related violence in Awka and its environs,” Ikenga stated.
The Command said it had intensified efforts to recover the firearms reportedly mentioned by the suspect and track down other suspected gang members still at large.
Investigators are also working to establish the full extent of Okafor’s alleged involvement in the offences under investigation.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The police assured residents that operations targeting individuals suspected of criminal activities would continue across the state, adding that further information would be released as the investigation progresses.
