UDUF Africa has urged young entrepreneurs, professionals and emerging leaders to embrace resilience, strategic thinking and continuous learning as critical ingredients for building sustainable businesses and achieving long-term success.

The organisation gave the charge during its September Business Meeting and Mentorship Session held at AI Hub Africa, Onitsha, where entrepreneurs and professionals gathered to discuss the realities of starting, building and sustaining a business.

The meeting, themed “The Business Journey: Starting, Struggling, Surviving and Succeeding — An Entrepreneur’s Story of Persistence, Resilience and Growth,” focused on the practical challenges of entrepreneurship and strategies for navigating setbacks, adapting to changing business environments and achieving sustainable growth.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Strong Africa Biz Network and His Presence Multiglobal Real Estate & Properties, Hon. Chioma Ugwu, shared lessons from her entrepreneurial journey and stressed the importance of persistence, resilience and continuous learning.

Ugwu noted that entrepreneurship was rarely a smooth journey, stressing that patience, consistency, strategic planning and the ability to remain focused during difficult seasons were essential to business success.

“Challenges in business should not always be seen as setbacks. With the right mindset, they can become opportunities to learn, improve and grow,” she said.

She encouraged participants to remain committed to their goals while being willing to review their strategies and adapt when circumstances change.

The programme also featured a book review session on Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy by Patrick Bet-David. The book was reviewed by the Chief Executive Officer of Blessed Doradew Enterprise, Uplifter Umeh Kelechukwu.

The review examined the importance of strategic thinking, effective decision-making, proper positioning and the ability to anticipate future business moves in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons from the book not only to their businesses but also to their personal and professional development.

Another key feature of the meeting was the Parliamentary Session, which provided members with an opportunity to deliberate on issues affecting UDUF Africa and contribute ideas toward strengthening the organisation.

The session highlighted the importance of active participation, teamwork, accountability and collective responsibility in achieving organisational objectives.

In his remarks, Continental President of UDUF Africa, Uplifter Uchenna Christopher, urged members to remain committed to the organisation’s vision and mission.

He identified continuous learning, collaboration, mentorship and purposeful leadership as essential tools for building successful businesses and creating meaningful impact in society.

According to him, the strength of UDUF Africa extends beyond its programmes, with its greatest asset being the commitment of members to connect, inspire and transform one another.

“Our responsibility is not only to build successful businesses but also to build people who can create meaningful impact in their communities and society,” Uchenna said.

He encouraged young entrepreneurs to recognise emerging opportunities, remain resilient in the face of challenges and continually develop their skills and capacity.

Also speaking, Founder of UDUF Africa, Uplifter Ezuma Smart Chinedu, urged participants to develop the right mindset and build the capacity required to navigate the different stages of entrepreneurship.

He noted that every successful entrepreneur encounters different phases of growth and advised participants not to be discouraged by the struggles associated with building a business.

“The struggle is part of the journey. What matters is how you respond to the challenges, what you learn from them and how you use those lessons to move forward,” he said.

Chinedu reaffirmed UDUF Africa’s commitment to creating platforms where young people can access knowledge, mentorship, networks and opportunities capable of transforming ideas into meaningful impact.

The meeting also provided participants with opportunities to network, exchange experiences, ask questions and establish relationships with entrepreneurs and professionals from different fields.

Discussions during the networking and mentorship session centred on business challenges, emerging opportunities, leadership, personal development and strategies for achieving sustainable growth.

The organisers said the meeting strengthened participants’ entrepreneurial knowledge, encouraged strategic decision-making and promoted peer learning and collaboration.

They added that the programme encouraged young entrepreneurs to explore technology and emerging opportunities while reinforcing UDUF Africa’s commitment to youth development, leadership and entrepreneurship.

The September Business Meeting was held under UDUF Africa’s vision of “CONNECT • INSPIRE • TRANSFORM,” which focuses on helping individuals discover purpose, build capacity, overcome limitations and maximise their potential.

UDUF Africa expressed appreciation to Hon. Chioma Ugwu for sharing her entrepreneurial experience, Uplifter Umeh Kelechukwu for facilitating the book review, and the organisation’s leadership, members, volunteers, partners and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
