2027 NASS Poll: AA Reps Candidate Pledges Grassroots Representation for Awka North/South

Action Alliance (AA) candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Okoye Anthony Arinze, has pledged effective representation, accountable leadership and grassroots-oriented development if elected.

Arinze made the pledge in a statement issued on Friday and titled, “New Generation, New Direction, Stronger Community.”

He said his ambition was driven by the need to provide leadership that listens to the people, understands their challenges and works directly with communities to address their concerns.

According to him, many residents, particularly youths, have continued to grapple with unemployment, insecurity, limited economic opportunities and inadequate access to quality education and skills development.

“I am stepping forward to represent the people of Awka North and South Constituency because I believe our people deserve effective representation, responsible leadership, and a government that truly works for the community,” he said.

Arinze said his administration, if elected, would pursue a new approach to representation focused on service, consultation and community participation.

“For too long, many of our people—especially our young people—have faced unemployment, insecurity, limited opportunities, and inadequate access to quality education and empowerment.

“I believe the time has come for a new approach to leadership: leadership that listens, serves, works with the people, and brings government closer to the community,” he stated.

The AA candidate identified youth empowerment, education, skills development and community-focused development as key areas of his proposed legislative agenda.

He said he would seek to promote meaningful opportunities that would enable young people to develop sustainable livelihoods while supporting improved access to quality education and vocational skills.

Arinze also promised to strengthen advocacy for safer communities through collaboration with relevant government authorities and community stakeholders in addressing insecurity.

On representation, he pledged to make the concerns of constituents a priority, stressing the importance of accessibility and accountability in public office.

“Accessible and accountable representation, where the people are heard and their concerns are taken seriously, will also form part of my vision,” he said.

He further emphasized the role of young people in governance, arguing that they should have opportunities to participate meaningfully in leadership and decision-making.

“I believe the youth should not only be the leaders of tomorrow—we must also be given meaningful opportunities to contribute to leadership today,” Arinze said.

The lawmaker hopeful said he was not seeking to lead from a distance but to maintain close engagement with constituents.

“I am not coming to lead from a distance. I am coming to work with my people, listen to my people, and build with my people,” he said.

Arinze called on residents of Awka North and South to support a new direction focused on representation, opportunity and community development.

“Together, we can demand better representation, create opportunities for our youth, strengthen our communities, and build a constituency where the government is closer to the people.

“It is time for service, for opportunity, for the youth. It is time to work together for Awka North and South,” he added.
