Soludo Vows to Create LG Model of Accountability, Transparency in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has pledged to establish a model local government administration anchored on accountability, transparency and sustainability across the state.

Soludo made the commitment while addressing a massive crowd of party faithful, residents and supporters during the grand finale of the ward-to-ward campaign parade across the 15 wards in Anambra East Local Government Area ahead of Saturday’s local government election.

The governor said his administration was committed to strengthening democratic processes by systematically mobilising support and engaging with citizens at the grassroots.

He described the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as an “unshakeable political fortress” in Anambra, urging residents to sustain their support for the party.

“This is a rally for the local government election coming up this Saturday. We are serious about the election, mobilising all through the LGAs ahead of the exercise.

“This is in the tradition of democracy, to tick all the boxes. Our local government system is working, and we are mainstreaming a model local government administration designed to achieve accountability, transparency and sustainability,” Soludo said.

Highlighting the impact of his administration’s grassroots policies, the governor said primary school teachers, healthcare workers and other public servants were being paid as and when due.

He also expressed appreciation to the people of Anambra East for what he described as their overwhelming support and “massive bloc votes” during previous gubernatorial elections.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Soludo said APGA would unveil its candidates for various elective positions at the appropriate time.

“The general election will take place in January and February next year. Before then, we will unveil our presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates,” he announced.

The rally attracted endorsements from political leaders, members of the state executive council, legislators and community representatives, who highlighted what they described as the administration’s developmental achievements.

The Mayor of Anambra East LGA, Mr Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, commended Soludo for his continued support for infrastructure development in the area.

Chinweze specifically cited road construction, the ongoing development of the strategic Otuocha Market, which he said was about 70 per cent complete, and the restoration of peace in communities previously affected by disputes.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, and the member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Barr. Obi Nweke, also praised the governor’s policies.

They attributed the area’s continued support for APGA to policies including free education, free antenatal care and free delivery services.

Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North, Senator Stella Oduah, expressed confidence that Anambra East would deliver a decisive victory for the party in Saturday’s election. They also commended Soludo’s economic blueprint and developmental agenda.

The State APGA Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, and National APGA Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, described Soludo’s administration as transformational, saying the party remained committed to structural development, democratic accountability and lifting citizens out of poverty.

Representing women traders at Otuocha Market, Mrs Chukwuma Veronica pledged their support for the Mayor of Anambra East, assuring him of the market women’s backing at the polls.

Similarly, the Federal Constituency candidate, Chinedu Obidigwe, said the appropriate reward for what he described as exceptional leadership and sustained infrastructural development was “more work” through a resounding electoral mandate on Saturday.
