Ideani Tragedy: New Anambra Police Commissioner Pledges to Pay Medical Bills of Surviving Child

The Anambra State Police Command has pledged to take full responsibility for the medical expenses of the only surviving child among four children found unconscious in Ideani Community, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, made the commitment while addressing journalists at the Command headquarters, assuring that the survivor’s treatment and recovery would be closely monitored.

The police boss described the incident as tragic and said the Command’s immediate priority was to ensure that the surviving child receives every necessary medical intervention.

“We express the deep sadness and concern of the Command over the tragic incident involving the discovery of four unconscious children, aged 6, 9, 12 and 15 years, in Ideani Community,” Oji Ama said.

“Regrettably, despite the strenuous efforts of medical personnel to save their lives, three of the children were certified dead.

“The fourth child is currently receiving intensive medical care and is courageously fighting for survival.”

The Commissioner said the Command would bear the survivor’s medical expenses and closely monitor the child’s condition throughout the recovery process.

“Before addressing the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident, I wish to announce that the Anambra State Police Command will bear the full medical expenses of the surviving child.

“We shall also closely monitor the child’s treatment and recovery to ensure that every necessary medical intervention is provided,” he said.

According to him, saving the child’s life remains the Command’s immediate concern.

“Our immediate priority is to see the child recover out of respect for the sanctity of human life,” Oji Ama added.

He also assured residents that the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the survivor’s condition would be thoroughly addressed, stressing that the police would handle the matter with the highest level of professionalism.

The incident has sparked concern within the community, with attention now focused on the surviving child’s recovery and the circumstances that led to the children being found unconscious.
