-Urge them To Uphold Community Laws

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Friday issued certificate of Return to the recently elected traditional ruler of Ndiowu Town, Igwe Sir Ben Chibuzor Okekeifi and five other monarchs.

Other monarchs who recieved their official certificates during the brief ceremony held at the Light House, Awka, includes Igwe Justice Samuel Nwachukwu Okoye of Azigbo, Igwe Clement Nchetaka Onwuka of Isulo, Igwe Uche Sunday Okonkwo of Amawbia, Igwe Benson Chinedu Madubuko of Adazi-Ani and Igwe Ejike Ugoagbala of Ora-eri.

Governor Soludo, in his speech to the new monarchs, emphasized the importance of the traditional rulers’ role in their communities, urging them to abide by the constitutions of their respective town unions.

He stressed that the office of the traditional ruler is a creation of the town union constitutions, which outlines their responsibilities and duties. He also called on the monarchs to be impartial and serve as fathers to all members of their communities.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, explained that the recognition process was based on the constitutions of the respective communities.

He noted that the state government’s approach to traditional institutions has been successful, with other states seeking to emulate the model.

The Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, expressed confidence that the recognized traditional rulers will serve their communities with integrity and wisdom.

He pledged the support of the Council to the monarchs, saying that their recognition will promote peace and stability in their respective communities.
