Anambra Govt Begins Full Enforcement of Environmental Laws, Vows Penalty for Defaulters

Anambra State Government has disclosed that full enforcement of all environmental laws has commenced in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor in a statement warned strict penalty for all public and private buildings without functional catchment pits, drainage systems, or any approved means of stormwater control.
He warned that anyone caught dropping refuse indiscriminately on roads, expressways, or into drainages would be arrested, prosecuted and fined.
“The indiscriminate disposal of sachet water nylons, PET bottles, plastics, or any other waste materials at locations other than designated litter points is strictly prohibited.
“Offenders will be fined and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Penalties: individuals: ₦20,000 to ₦1,000,000; Corporate organizations: ₦100,000 to ₦5,000,000.”
