By Praise Chinecherem Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Ezeofor has charged ministers of God to always promote peace and unity amongst the people, especially those they are serving.
The bishop gave the advice during the ordination of nine ordinands as Deacons at the advent ordination of Aguata Diocese held at the Cathedral Church of St John, Ekwulobia.
Ezeofor who doubles as National Chairman, Evangelical fellowship in the Anglican communion EFAC Nigeria also urged the priests to be diligent in reading and studying the Holy scripture as well as preaching the undiluted word of God.
Earlier in his sermon, the guest preacher, Ven Oliver Ofoegbu expressed concern over challenges facing Christianity, especially in recent times.
He charged them, especially the clergy to always listen to positive advise and take corrections for them to excel in their Ministry.
While warning the faithful against working for God without knowing Jesus Christ, the cleric blamed high rate of kidnappings, banditry, terrorism and persecution on lack of knowledge of God.
Some of those made Deacons including Emmanuel Ugochukwu, Okafor Godswil and Ignoanugo Omera thanked God for using Bishop Samuel Ezeofor to elevate them in His vine yard.
They promised to use their new positions in winning souls for Christ in addition to touching lives positively.
President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, former President General Joint council of Knights church of Nigeria, Sir Isaiah EzeEzika and Director of Media and Communications, Abuchi Nwozor described priesthood as a vocation that needs full commitment.
They urged the new priests to help in bringing the needed transformation in the society.
The event featured declaration of various oaths including that of canonical obedience as well as issuance of Holy bible to the new priests by Ezeofor as a mark of authority.
