NSCDC Assures VIPs Protection Without Privacy Compromise

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Commandant has emphasized the need for increased commitment, discipline, dedication, and professionalism among personnel.

State Commandant, Maku Olatunde stated this at a strategic meeting with operational and tactical commanders to address the evolving security landscape in the state and deliver on the Corps’ expanded mandate to protect Very Important Persons (VIPs).

He said the meeting was aimed to re-orientate and re-position the Command’s operations towards a more proactive, effective, and result-driven security approach following presidential directives tasking the NSCDC to take over the responsibility of providing security protection for VIPs.

According to him, the NSCDC has demonstrated competence in handling security operations and is better positioned to take on VIP protection responsibilities without disrupting their daily engagements or compromising their privacy.

He directed strategic commanders to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, and early-warning systems across the State and its border communities, underscoring the importance of national interest and inter-agency cooperation in achieving the Corps’ mandate.

The NSCDC boss warned personnel against acts of overzealousness, urging them to remain disciplined and focused while ensuring the safety of residents, visitors, and Critical National, State, and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure across the State.

“In pursuant to the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to reform national security operations and resources, the Corps has been assigned a new responsibility.

“Under the new arrangement, VIPs who desire armed protection must formally request officers from the NSCDC, which will now serve as the primary agency for such assignments,” he added.

Appreciating President Bola Tinubu for entrusting the NSCDC with critical responsibilities in VIP protection, Maku noted that the Corps’ expanded mandate has raised national expectations.

“The Command guarantees the public that security measures will be regularly assessed and updated to safeguard the safety and welfare of all residents,” he reassured.
