Residents of Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas amidst voter apathy conducted themselves peacefully during the Saturday, November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
There was no report of any violence, ballot box snatching or unavailability of voting materials and INEC adhoc election staff for the gubernatorial election within Obosi, Oba and Akwuukwu communities.
At unit 014, one of the three units located at St. Andrews Anglican Church Central School, Obosi Ward 1 former Minister of Aviation and Federal Road Safety Commission, Corp Marshall Chief, Osita Chidoka (Ike Obosi) and his younger brother, Hon. Obinna Chidoka who represented Idemili North and South Constituency in the House of Representatives voted at about 11.30 am and 12 noon respectively.
Speaking after casting their votes, Chidoka brothers said they were satisfied with the peaceful conduct of the exercise so far and urged all the electorate to come out enmasse to exercise there franchise.
They noted that there was relative voters Apathy so far in the election but was happy that most people who voted around Obosi area were all voting for the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA party to express their unalloyed support for the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra saying that his achievements were unprecedented and that needs to continue.
Also at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area, the traditional ruler, His Majesty Igwe Engr Augustine Emelobe who spoke to newsmen around 1 pm at Units 011, 040 and 012 , United primary school Umuogali Oba while going round the polling units to monitor the exercise, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing exercise so far.
Director General Soludo Re-election Campaign Idemili South, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) who moved round with the monarch, told newsmen that he voted at his Unit 018 earlier in the day saying that the election was very peaceful around Oba community adding that he was very optimistic that his principal, Governor Soludo and APGA party will have majority of the total votes cast in Oba community to express their love for the APGA led government.
Managing Director, Bureau of Statistics and Statistician-General Anambra state,Dr. Obiora Obiabumuo observed that the exercise was going on in a free and fair manner within a peaceful and serene environment.
“Oba community has always been known to be peaceful during elections especially when they have one Solution candidate in mind this time around to vote for whose impact has been seen and felt by all and sundry in the last 3 years and seven months” said Obiabumuo
At Akwuukwu, The Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Hon Don Onyenji stated emphatically that in all the 12 polling units of Akwuukwu the voters from his community proved that Akwuukwu is APGA land, just like Anambra State is APGA land.
“So far so good. Akwuukwu is APGA land. Of course, anybody who did not vote for APGA in my community will be struck by Akwuukwu land. Since the creation of both old and new Anambra State it is in this Solution Government that an Akwuukwu man was given a political appointment as a Commissioner. Also, apart from the Onitsha/Owerri road that passed through Akwuukwu in the 60’s, this is the first time a tarred road was built by a Governor to connect Akwuukwu with Oraifite.,” said Onyenji.
Moreso, at the Obosi Town Hall cum Collation center for the Independent National Electoral Commission, Registration Area the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma expressed happiness with Obosi community saying that he was certain that in all the 130 Polling units in Obosi wards APGA will clinch victory because Obosi people love Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
“Obosi people and infact Anambra State has made a bold Statement that they cannot be intimidated or cajoled by political gimmicks. My people of Obosi where you have the highest number of electorates have made a bold Statement that they are for APGA and with Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
However, by the time of writing this report at the Obosi Town Hall/ Collation center for Obosi Registration Area around 5 pm , the Collation officer, Mr. Saidu Gambo was about to commence collation of results brought in by the Polling Officers from Polling units 001 to 0130 of Obosi Area.
