Anambra Mass Literacy, Adult Education Agency Clinches Prizes at National Skills Competition

Anambra State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE) has clinched top positions and prizes at a national skill competition in Owerri, Imo state.

Congratulating the participants who were at the Ministry to present the prizes won, Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh lauded them for elevating Anambra before other states.

She lauded Anambra for always on the lead, stressing that Mr Governor is systematically overhauling the educational system and making every part of it an icon.

Highlighting the pivotal role AANFE plays in the state educational space, Chuma-Udeh stated, “AANFE is a very strong arm of the state education sector.

“The adult and non-formal education and vocational part of it is the most interesting as it equips the beneficiaries with the capacity of contributing immediately to the contemporary society on graduating from the program on skills acquisition,” she added.

Earlier, Mrs Ebele Ononihu, Executive Secretary, AANFE appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Ministry of education for creating enabling environment for Adult Literacy and non formal education to thrive in the state.

Ononihu, while throwing more light into the events that led to the prizes won by Anambra contingent represented by Miss Nzube Nwaobodo, Precious Okosa, Benedette Idenyi, Faith Gabriel and Mebuge Priscilla stated that the state participated in five categories, namely shoe and bakery, tailoring, beauty and cosmetology, hair dressing and catering.

She further revealed that the state participants clinched 2nd positions in tailoring, shoe and bag making respectively.

One of participants, Miss Joy Okosa, appreciated the state’s efforts in establishing the agency,: promising that the skills acquired from the AANFE program would be put into practice and also step down to others in the state.

Highlights of the events was the presentation of gifts won to the Ministry including commercial oven, two sewing machines, led soft ring light, box of makeup kits.

Others are bench grinder, hair dressing equipment, DuraVolt Nylon Sealer, Super Hand Mixer, Hand dryer, tonging machines, Rollers stand, Hair stretchers among other items.
