Anambra Govt Wades into NULGE Leadership Crisis, Seeks Lasting Peace

Anambra State Government has vowed to wade into lingering crisis rocking state chapter of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) towards finding lasting solution and ensuring peace returned to the union.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, made the promise following closed-door meeting with the National President of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu-Haruna Kankara.

Kankara was in the state with some national, zonal and Anambra State executives of the union who visited the Commissioner to bring an end to the crisis in the union.

Nwabunwanne said resolving the crisis would not be difficult since Anambra remained the only chapter in the country with issues.

He added that legal documents as claimed by the different factions have been submitted to the state’s legal department for interpretation and resolution.

“Since Anambra is the only chapter in the whole country with issues, it will be easy for the government to settle the problem,” he added.

Head of Service, Barr Theodora Igwegbe, while addressing the group who later visited her in her office at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat, frowned at the state executive of the union for not carrying her along even before the crisis.

She demanded immediate end to every protest to enable her meet with the two parties to so as to bring peace back to the union.

National President of NULGE, Comrade Kankara insisted that the Comrade Eucharia Uyawune-led executive of the union remained the authentic executive duly elected by the national body.

“We cannot allow another faction to disorganize the union under any guise,” he warned.

On her part, State Acting President of the union, Comrade Uyawune regretted creation of non-existing issues by the other faction, assuring that her executive will toe the path of peace once it was initiated.
