4 Persons Remanded at Awka Correctional Center over Defilement in Anambra

Four suspects have been remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre over separate cases of defilement in different communities in Anambra state.
Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Thursday said the suspects would remain in the facility pending further court proceedings.
He said, “Anambra State Police Command on August 20, 2025, arraigned four suspects involved in separate cases of defilement before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court sitting in Awka.
“The suspects were subsequently remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further court proceedings.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu has reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to the protection of children and other vulnerable persons in the State.
He also warned all offenders that such acts would not go unpunished.
